Office Location:

Switzerland, and 42 countries

Business Challenges:

The major challenge was to upgrade the version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013R2 to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 within a limited time. They have over 20 databases and 65 companies. Having operations in multiple countries they have many different local functionalities per country in a single codebase. Databases were large, ranging from 50-600 GB and had issues with locking, dead-locking, affecting performance. In Some countries they used their local language in GUI like Russian, Chinese and German languages. After completion of the upgrade, they require onsite user training and go-live support.

The pain area of the customer was Data Management between different countries/shops on different servers as they are using 3 different types of POS system at multiple locations. In addition, they were missing the Daily track report of Sales Count and Amount raised on the retail shops. Due to this, the company faced a delay in a daily financial report.

Apart from it, they would like to have an automatic tool that can do a full auto-test of the main business transaction and confirm back the number of time-interval the system took to complete it. It was basically to check the stress load that NAV can consume during bulk transaction posting from different countries.

Also, the customer operates stores on a ship where they have their POS systems for maintaining Master Data and Sales. They need a new interface to be able to send MD (Master Data) and receive sales from their stores onboard the ship.

The customer planned to have pop-up stores sales at the VIP and boarding areas at the airports. To fulfil this, it initiated sales using tablets handled by sales persons present in these areas of the airport. The concept behind this is to enable Stores at the airport to reach out those potential customers, who are otherwise not inclined to step in the stores and offer them a unique shopping experience right from the comforts of the VIP / Boarding area Lounges.

Apart from above challenges, they required integration with many other Financial systems and ERP system like SAP

Business Features:

With upgrading to latest NAV 2018  we can take advantage of improved functionality, new features, and enhanced capabilities, that can boost productivity, reduce costs, and improve customer service.  For example, Web client, Mobile client and Tablet client are supported with the upgraded version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

We managed the different local functionalities in single codebase using Team Foundation Server in Visual Studio with Source Code Management and Versioning. On top of that, we created a Language module using the standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV process for their different languages. To reduce the live upgrade timeline for larger databases we have archived some historical data and converted some upgrade routine C/AL code into SQL batches.

To reduce the company challenges, we provided a Replication solution that synchronizes the daily master data on different servers and retail shops via a different mode i.e. SQL, Text, and XML. For Sales Tracking, we gave a matrix that displayed a perfect picture of Sales per period, per shop and per categories. Also, we had provided an automation stress tool to check the NAV stress and its capabilities.

Along with it, we had provided an extended solution of standard Job Queue Functionality that handles much of activities & posting without any system deadlocking. For bulk posting of Journals, Sales and Purchase documents we extended the base solution. Now, the Company noticed a much improved in performance & face lesser queries from their end-users.
